This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Coder. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer (VS Code Contractor) in United States, Ireland, Poland, Canada, United Kingdom.

This is a contract-based opportunity for a skilled software engineer passionate about enhancing developer tools and experiences. In this fully remote role, you'll work closely with product and engineering teams to evolve and maintain a high-impact open-source VS Code extension. You’ll focus on front-end feature development, technical documentation, and integration improvements that support both internal users and enterprise clients. If you're a TypeScript expert with a collaborative mindset and interest in open-source, this role offers both flexibility and influence.

Accountabilities:

• Contribute to the design and development of an open-source VS Code extension, writing clean and scalable TypeScript code.
• Improve extension architecture, usability, and integration with the core development platform.
• Write clear and accessible documentation for internal teams and external users.
• Collaborate with Customer Success teams to resolve issues and support enterprise users.
• Participate in shaping technical decisions and repository structure to optimize developer experience.

Requirements

• Based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, or Poland.
• 3+ years of professional full-stack development experience, with strong TypeScript proficiency.
• Familiarity with Go and shell scripting.
• Active presence on open-source platforms (e.g., GitHub or GitLab).
• Experience working across operating systems and understanding of basic networking protocols (IP, TCP, TLS, SSH,
• Background in maintaining open-source libraries or plugins is a strong plus.
