The Teaching Assistant, Technology supports the Technology Teacher Specialists in the California Education Resource Center at the California School for the Blind. Key responsibilities include assisting teaching staff in the technology lab to enhance student learning and improving lab operations for maximum efficiency, thereby increasing resources directed at student and educational team support.

The incumbent must demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in data collection and electronic spreadsheets. They must be self-motivated, able to identify needs, and complete tasks independently and on time. Creativity and openness to establishing new processes and policies to support the Education Resource Center’s goals are essential.

This position can involve working with students without teacher supervision for up to 90 minutes. Daily tasks are managed by the Teacher Specialists in the AT lab, with overall supervision by the Director of the Education Resource Center. This position is a 4/5 time-base (32 hours).

Working Conditions

CSB is located in Fremont, next to California School for the Deaf, and is located on 25 acres of an open campus. This position will work in a temp controlled environment with LED lighting. May predominantly sit at desk or use sit/stand desk during normal working hours to perform daily duties, may be required to lift, carry document boxes weighing up to 25 lbs. This position may be kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching overhead/above shoulder level, sitting. May be around blind or visually impaired students & service animals. May be required to escort student during fire drills or emergencies.

Special Requirements

Prior to starting employment, t his position requires a Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment and or Test (TB), a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) Fingerprint Clearance. Additional information will be provide at time of formal offer of employment.
